The public hearing on the proposed expansion plan of Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) will be conducted on schedule at the sports complex ground in Chicalim on Friday morning, with the MPT rejecting allegations of activists who had demanded postponement of the public meeting due to their objections.
While a police complaint was filed by a group of activists along with Goenchea Ramponkarancho Ekvott (GRE) and other fishing bodies against the MPT chief engineer for allegedly providing false information in the EIA report, MPT Chairman G P Rai has rubbished their claims.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, MPT Chairman in-charge G P Rai said they had heard that a police complaint was filed, but had not received any summons in the regard.
“We are going ahead with the public hearing. We have not received any summons in regards to the police complaint filed. As far as the port is concerned, the port has followed all procedures absolutely as per the EIA notification.” “Everything is correct information and we have replied to the collector as well. The MPT has filed totally correct information in the EIA report,” said Rai.
