Angry locals from Rive, Golavali and Dongurli in Sattari taluka on Wednesday confronted the electricity assistant engineer at Valpoi, to express their displeasure over the erratic power supply and also accused an employee of abusive language while attending to complaints on phone.

Demanding an apology from staff employee for the alleged abuses, the angry women threatened to file a police complaint in the matter.

According to reports, the women were aggrieved over the frequent power outages over the past 15 days in the  villages. They claimed to have made several complaints regarding the erratic power supply, but there had been no solution in the matter. A few days ago, a woman claimed to have called up the Valpoi electricity station to enquire about the frequent power supply, when she alleged that the staffer had abused her on the phone.

Furious about the attitude of the staffer, a group of women marched to the Valpoi electricity department office on Wednesday morning and sought to meet the Assistant Engineer Saudagar. AE was at a meeting with the executive engineer in Bicholim, but women were in no mood to leave the Valpoi office.

Saudagar reached the Valpoi office at noon and the aggrieved women confronted him and the employees concerned. Objecting to the abusive language by the staffer concerned, the aggrieved women warned that they would file a police complaint if such abusive language is repeated in future.

The AE apologised to the women over the incident and assured that such a situation would not be repeated from the Valpoi electricity office, while the employees also promised to be respectful while attending to phone calls.

The women then raised the issue about frequent power outages in the three villages and sought to know when the problem would be resolved.

Saudagar explained that a fault in the electrical line had caused the erratic power and said the issue would be resolved shortly so that all three villages get proper power supply.
