SANGUEM
Fire was reported at three places in the thick jungle area on Vichundrem hill in Sanguem taluka.
“The fire which had reportedly started on Friday, was, however, brought under control and will be doused soon,” informed Assistant Deputy Conservator of Forest Minguel Fernandes.
The forest department team from Sanguem worked hard in battling the raging fire. The fire was brought under control after a line was put by the forest department to stop the fire from spreading further.
The firefighting operations posed a challenge as as the fire had spread at three different places and this required additional manpower on the ground.
There was also an incident of a minor fire incident at Rivona, but it was doused completely before any damage could be done, informed Fernandes.
A fire was also reported at Netravali, but it too was brought under control.
“The forest department is working tirelessly to monitor these incidents,” said Fernandes.
