Fire at apartment in Ponda
PONDA: An elderly person had a lucky escape after a LCD television caught fire in a flat at Dr Almeida Complex building at Ponda on Tuesday evening.
Though no injuries were reported, the flat, belonging to Sanjay Dalvi, situated on the fifth floor, suffered damage after some articles in the room caught fire. The television in the bedroom caught fire, which also spread to the air conditioner and other articles. The incident occurred when an elderly person was watching the television, informed sources.
According to the fire station, they received a call at about 6.25 pm.
The bedroom was damaged in the fire. The fire personnel doused the fire and are ascertaining the exact damages.
Divisional officer R A Haldankar, senior fire fighter C C Madkaikar, Manoj Naik, Anil Betodkar and Raman Gaonkar were involved in the fire fighting operation.
