Tourist coach owners rushed to the site to remove their buses from the area as the fire threatened to spread to adjoining areas.
The locals sought to know whether the authorities are creating another Sonsodo dump near the KTC bus stand.
They wondered how the waste was allowed to be accumulated at the spot by the authorities when dozens of buses are parked adjoining the area at any point of time.
The tourist coach owners later called up the fire services to extinguish the fire and stop it from spreading to the neighbourhood.
