A fire broke out in a room on the second floor of the Ayush Hospital in Dhargal on Saturday night, causing panic among the doctors and staff.
A huge plume of smoke spread throughout the hospital premises at about 9.30 pm, causing chaos among the staff. As soon as the hospital’s director, Dr Sujata Kadam, received information about the incident, she rushed to the spot with her officers and notified the Pernem fire services.
She then instructed all doctors, staff and security personnel in the area to evacuate the hospital. A fire tender led by fire officer Gopal Pawar rushed to the site and extinguished the fire. A short circuit is believed to have led to the fire.
