MARGAO
A fire broke out at a scrap yard in the Rumdamol housing board area on Tuesday evening. Large flames were visible as the Margao fire brigade rushed to the scene to carry out firefighting operations. A firefighter told the media that the fire was eventually put out by both the fire brigade and local residents.
While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, it is suspected that it may have started during welding work.
Interestingly, some local citizens claimed that they had already extinguished the fire before the fire brigade arrived. However, concerns have been raised about whether the scrap yard had the necessary permissions and licences from the authorities to operate.
