CANACONA
The Canacona fire station put out a fire near the Manohar Parrikar Canacona Bypass (MPCB) at Talpona late Monday evening.
The firefighters took over one-and-half hours to extinguish the fire on dry grass and nearly engulfed cashew trees on the eastern side of the bypass near Talpona bridge.
“We received a call from Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas regarding the fire at about 7 pm. A fire tender rushed to the site and we managed to extinguish the fire by about 8.30 pm,” informed a fire fighter.
Firefighters, however, suspect some persons may have been smoking in the area and may have discarded a cigarette which may have cause the fire.
