Firm on contesting LS polls: Shripad

Dismissing rumours that he may not contest the next Lok Sabha elections, Union Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik on Friday clarified that he was firm in contesting elections as long as people wanted him in the elections.

Five-time North Goa MP and Union Minister Shripad Naik was injured in an accident, which claimed the life of his wife.

There were speculations after the accident that Shripad Naik was not fully fit and may not contest the next Lok Sabha election.

Naik was quick to refute the speculations.

“Some are eyeing the Lok Sabha seat and are spreading rumours that I will not contest the next Lok Sabha election. At a function in Bicholim constituency, some people had also asked me this question. I am making it public that I will contest till the people want me to contest,” said Naik while speaking to media persons.

“I am fit now. I want to serve people till the last breath of mine. I am firm on contesting the LS elections,” said Naik.
