In a statement released to the media, Paliencar has said that patrolling by the Fisheries Department's ‘Ocean Queen' patrol vessel has found that 31 vessels were fishing within five kilometres of the Sinquerim coast and 23 vessels were found fishing within five kilometres of the coast of Cacra-Bambolim.
"The Goa Value Added Tax based on HSD oil consumed by fishing vessel subsidy has been withheld," Paliencar informed.
The department has claimed it has been conducting regular patrolling in the territorial waters of Goa ie upto 12 NM of state and in inland waters by using its 15 meters Glass Reinforced Plastic High Speed Patrol vessel and training vessel Ocean Queen in order to report illegal fishing activities.
Besides this, the coastal police have submitted the report from April to September, 246 persons have been venturing into the sea without ID cards while 47 vessels have been venturing into the sea without documents onboard the vessel and that as many as 13 vessels were fishing within one nautical mile from the coast.
Further as many as 46 vessels have been fishing by using mini purse-seine net were found and their kerosene subsidy have been withheld.

‘Vested interests use freedom of speech as right to defame people'
MAPUSA: Hitting back at allegations by Adv Aires Rodrigues, WRD Minister Vinoda Paliencar on Tuesday said vested interests use the freedom of speech as a right to defame people by making derogatory statements.
It may be recalled that Rodrigues had claimed on social media to have in his possession a video showing the minister in a compromising position with a woman from his Siolim constituency.
The post has gone went viral on social media and Rodrigues has demanded the dismissal of the WRD minister, while also threatening to handover a copy of the alleged video clip to Governor Dr Mridula Sinha.
Asked to respond to allegations by Rodrigues along the sidelines of an inspection of a sports ground at Assagao, Paliencar shot back: "Is there any evidence?"
"First bring the evidence and then I'll see," said Paliencar and refused to speak further in the matter.
