Porvorim police have booked five persons on charges of cheating complainant Dharampal Kukreja to the tune of Rs 2 crore in connection with the sale of a property.
According to Porvorim police, Dharampal Kukreja (73) of Penha de Franca filed a complaint stating that from February 17, 2023, to March 24, 2025, Francis J Fernandes and his wife, Ramona Fernandes, being the owners of a property in Sangolda, allegedly executed a Memorandum of Understanding for the sale of the property with the complainant.
One person, Faisal, allegedly acted as a broker and induced the complainant to pay Rs 2 crore to Fernandes and his wife.
The complaint stated that Francis Fernandes, Ramona Fernandes and Faisal, in connivance with a fourth accused, Vinit, and a fifth accused, Karan Parab, allegedly hatched a criminal conspiracy and sold the property to another company.
The complaint added that Vinit and Karan Parab allegedly threatened the complainant with dire consequences in order to prevent him from staking a claim over the property, thereby cheating him of Rs 2 crore.
Acting on the complaint, Porvorim police registered a case against Francis Fernandes, Ramona Rosy Fernandes, Faisal, Vinit and Karan Parab. Police Sub-Inspector Sitaram Malik is investigating the case.
