Five persons have been arrested for attempt to murder after they seriously assaulted a man in Assagao late Monday night, Anjuna Police informed.
Police have rounded up the accused identified as Deepak Paswan, Roshan Paswan, Dishkant Paswan, Kishan Paswan and Sumit Kumar Shah all from Begusarai, Bihar and lodged them in police lock up.
According to police, Sohail Salim Shaikh (24) lodged a complaint that he and his friend Wasim Shaikh, both of whom are AC technicians, were at a construction site when some workers under the influence of alcohol came towards them and one of them also started vomiting.
When the duo questioned them of their action all the five rushed towards them and began assaulting them with fist blows and kicks.
While the complainant managed to escape from the clutches of the accused, his friend was badly thrashed by the accused until he was rendered unconscious.
“The complainant has suffered simple injuries while his friend who was seriously hurt was taken to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim where his condition is reported to be very critical,” said Jivba Dalvi, SDPO, Mapusa.
Both the complainant and his friend had come to work as AC technicians in Goa.
Dalvi informed that after receiving the complaint, teams were formed led by Anjuna PI Prashal Desai and all the accused were nabbed while they were trying to flee from Goa.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 143, 147, 323, 307 of the IPC even as they have been sent to police custody.
