Karnataka will construct a long flyover through Belagavi city in a bid to decongest traffic from Goa and Karwar while passing through Belagavi.

“Construction of the much-awaited flyover project in Belagavi will begin next month. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation for the new flyover, as well as for the new District Commissioner’s office and the new Press Club building,” said Karnataka PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi while addressing a news conference.

“The Belagavi flyover project will span 4.5 km, beginning at Sankam Hotel and extending through Ashok Circle, RTO Circle, Chennamma Circle, and Bogarves Circle. With a budget of Rs 200 crore, the Public Works Department will commence the first phase of construction in September,” Jarkiholi said.

Jarkiholi further informed that several developmental works initiated during the 2013 Siddaramaiah-led government have now been completed, and the chief minister will personally inaugurate them.

MLA Asif (Raju) Sait, Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan, Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borse, and Zilla Panchayat CEO Rahul Shinde were also present at the news conference.
