Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas on Monday inaugurated a new horticulture outlet under the Cortalim Agriculture Marketing Co-operative Society Ltd.
Addressing the media in the presence of ZP member Merciana Vas and a large gathering, Vas said the Cortalim Agriculture Marketing Co-operative Society Ltd, with a horticulture unit, had been launched to provide fresh vegetables at a lower price.
The MLA also handed over sanction orders of the Laadli Laxmi and Gruha Adhaar schemes to 64 women beneficiaries in the village.
Vas expressed gratitude to Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane for promptly sanctioning the Laadli Laxmi and Gruha Adhaar proposals.
“Today, 36 Laadli Laxmi and 28 Gruha Adhaar sanction letters have been distributed, benefitting 64 women,” he said.
The MLA further recalled that during the last Assembly, he had urged the government to enhance the financial assistance under these schemes.
“I had proposed that Laadli Laxmi be increased to Rs 2 lakh and Gruha Adhaar to Rs 3,000 a month in view of the rising cost of living. We hope the government considers this so that women receive greater support,” Vas said, while appealing to people to approach his office for help in availing themselves of such schemes.
