In an interesting development, the Fatorda police have registered an FIR against the management of NGO, We for Fatorda, patronized by MLA Vijai Sardesai in connection with the death of the 28-year old footballer Allister Vaz while playing football on the We for Fatorda ground, Fatorda, on January 24.
The FIR registered under section 336 and 304-A of the IPC comes following a complaint received from Mariano Augusto Vaz, 61 years, who is the father of the deceased footballer.
The FIR stated that the management committee of “We for Fatorda” ground had allegedly acted negligently, endangering human life while organizing the football tournament. They failed to take proper precautions while organizing the match by failing to keep an ambulance nor any proper emergency first aid for the treatment of injured players, the complaint stated.
As a result, Allister, who sustained injuries, died to the failure to provide him immediate medical aid.
While the incident had taken place on January 24, the Fatorda police registered the FIR on January 30.
The young footballer had collapsed on the ground during a football match at Fatorda on that day and was later declared brought dead to a city private hospital.
The autopsy conducted on the body of Allister later reportedly revealed that the 18-year old footballer had died due to cranial cervical damage caused by a blunt force impact.
