The GenNext has appealed to all the MLAs to raise the issue of foreigners doing “illegal” business on agricultural land in the State.
Speaking to The Goan, GenNext president Durgadas Kamat said they have taken the issue seriously and will fight to retain agriculture land.
“There is nexus between politicians, police and government officials from the coastal belt, with foreigners doing illegal business on orchard and agricultural land. This is a serious threat not only to Goa, but also to the country,” stated Kamat.
“We don't know what type of business they run illegally inside in name of the clubs and restaurants in the coastal belt. This is a clear-cut case of violation of RBI guidelines,” Kamat said.
“It's disheartening to see that our own Goan businessmen have been suffering, who are doing legal business,” he added.
Kamat requested all the 40 MLAs to raise the issue in the upcoming session. “This is the time to save Goa for future generations, if we don't do it now, we would land up in mess,” he said.
He lamented that people have started comparing Goa with Pattaya and Bangkok.
He said that during recent visit to night bazaars during the weekend in the coastal belt, foreigners were seen selling drugs openly.
