The Goa Forest Department will be hiring an agency to conduct an audit of the State's mangroves and also help it manage and maintain them.
The specialised agency will help prepare a plan for the maintenance of mangroves, according to Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane.
"To ensure the conservation of #Mangroves for environmental benefits, we are hiring a special agency to audit the mangroves. The agency along with @goaforests will prepare a plan for maintenance of mangroves and work on #conservation, protection and improve quality of mangroves," Rane said in a tweet.
He said mangroves are extremely important to our coastal ecosystems.
"We will work persistently to take all measures to protect and conserve them," Rane added in another tweet.
