Forgery case lodged against accused

Taking cognizance of the complaint lodged by the Fernandes family from Benaulim on the controversy surrounding the issuance of two birth certificates, the Margao police on Thursday registered a case against accused Renuka Shivaji Teshildar and others for cheating, forgery and impersonation.

Accused Renuka is believed to have moved the South Goa Sessions Court for anticipatory bail fearing arrest by the Margao police in the case, the police said.
Investigating officer, Police Sub-Inspector, Malito Fernandes informed that the police have booked Renuka and others for cheating, using a forged document for cheating, making a false documents and cheating by impersonation. “The case has been registered based on the complaint lodged by the Fernandes family and after 
collecting documents from various departments,” PSI Malito said.
Replying to a question, PSI Malito said that the police would book the remaining persons and officials, who assisted Renuka for obtaining the birth certificates. “We are in the process of investigations and the names of the remaining accused will come to light in due course of time,” PSI Malito added.
In this case, the elderly couple from Benaulim Agostinho and Maria Fernandes had rented the house to Renuka, a native of Karnataka since the last three years. The duo found to their shock and surprise that Renuka and a youth had registered their marriage with Renuka giving her name as Rita Agostinho Fernandes and the youth Arogya as Arogya Fernandes.
