Former minister Jose Philip D'Souza raised objections on Saturday regarding the construction activity underway at the Municipal Children's Park in Vasco for a proposed food court.
Speaking to the media in Vasco, D'Souza expressed concern that children should not lose their space for the sake of a proposed project. He suggested that the proposed food court could come up at one of the many alternate open spaces available in the city.
The former minister expressed shock at witnessing extensive construction activity in the park, stating that the entire playground was now being used for the food court project. D'Souza criticised the councillors for approving the project without proper consideration. He expressed concerns that the food court might attract undesirable activities once people of all kinds start frequenting the children's park.
D'Souza lamented the lack of implementation of past resolutions by the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC), pointing out that it often takes pressure from an MLA to prioritise resolutions. He criticised the MMC for neglecting other prime spaces in Vasco, suggesting that these spaces could be utilised instead of rushing with the food court project in the children's park.
