Former Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa on Monday came out openly in support of Congress South Goa candidate Captain Viriato Fernandes, saying the Congress has fielded the right candidate for the May 7 Lok Sabha election.
Footballer Cresson Antao further asserted that the people of Nuvem will unitedly show the Congress-turned-BJP MLA Alexio Sequeira that people are still with the Congress party and they will not allow the BJP to cross the 2,525 votes polled by the party in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
The former Nuvem MLA along with his supporters from Nuvem constituency came out openly in support of Captain Viriato at a meeting held at Nuvem on Monday evening.
“We have decided to support Capt Viriato since he is the good candidate fielded by the Congress party. People on their own have come out for the meeting in support of Viriato, who has worked as an activist to protect Goa from destruction”, he said.
Footballer Cresson Antao thundered at the meeting the May 7 election is an election between people’s power and the BJP.
“Our MLA Aleixo has gone to the BJP. He is now promising jobs and plots to the people and is asking for votes. The time has come to question the MLA whether he had told the people of Nuvem before joining the BJP,” Creson said.
Saying that the people of Nuvem are determined to deny any lead for the BJP in Nuvem in the coming polls, Cresson said, “The people of Nuvem will not allow the BJP to cross the votes polled in the 2019 LS polls”.
