MARGAO
The Fatorda police on Monday detained and later arrested the President of the Corruption Abolition party Sadanand Vaingankar after he created an uproar over the manner in which the election authorities were loading the symbols in the ballot units.
He was later released by the Police around noon.
Vaingankar , who made his presence felt at the South Goa district Collectorate on Day one of the loading of symbols in the symbol loading unit on Sunday, returned back to the Collectorate on Monday morning since the authorities were scheduled to take up loading of symbols in the units of the remaining four Assembly segments of Salcete taluka.
Like on Sunday, Vaingankar raised objections to the manner in which the election authorities were going about the loading of symbols in the symbol loading unit. He claimed that the authorities did not strictly adhere to the Election Commission manual on loading of symbols in the Symbol loading unit.
After he created an uproar, the Fatorda police came on the scene and detained him before taking him to the police station where he was arrested. He was later released on bail.
