MARGAO
Monday saw members of the Bahujan Samaj making a fervent appeal to the members of the community to rally behind the BJP in the May 7 Lok Sabha polls and strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendrao Modi and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
The appeal made by Sunil Naik, Parag Raikar and Dadi Mayenkar at a media briefing at the South Goa BJP district office on Monday raised eyebrows whether the trio made the plea due to a division in the Bahujan Samaj vote this time round.
“There is no division in the Bahujan Samaj vote. We have only come to make the appeal to our members to rally behind Union Minister Sripad Naik in North Goa and to vote for Pallavi Dempo in South Goa in the May 7 polls”, Sunil told the media.
He, however, could not satisfactorily explain why there was a need for them to come to the media and make the appeal to the Bahujan Samaj, which had in the past rallied behind the party.
“We have faith in the Bahujan Samaj. We have only come to remind them to unite behind the BJP and strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by electing both the BJP candidates to the Lok Sabha”, Sunil added.
Sunil recalled that the BJP had always supported the cause of the Bahujan Samaj, recalling how former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar had increased the quota of OBCs in the state, expressing his confidence that the Bahujan Samaj will rally behind the BJP candidates in the coming polls.
