Stating that partly built Kala Bhavan (pending for several years) has become a white elephant and a hub of illegal activities, former Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borker on Sunday accused Cortlaim MLA Alina Saldanha for failing to make the project a reality.

Borkar also alleged that Saldanha as a minister could not complete the project and said that as an MLA it would be impossible for her to complete the project while demanding that the prime land of Sancoale Panchayat offered for Kala Bhavan project be given back to the panchayat.

“Panchayat had offered prime land free of cost for the Kala Bhavan and the project has been pending for over ten years now. Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha should have done something to make this project a reality. Sancoale Panchayat in the past had even proposed that if the project cannot be completed taken, then the land should be given back,” Borkar

said.

“The Panchayat will carryout some developmental works here like building a hospital or maybe a panchayat ghar,” Borkar added.

Social activist Narayan Naik said that Cortalim MLA had assured that the Kala Bhavan project would be completed by December 2017 but it is yet to be completed.
