Members of the Margao Post Forum have urged the postal authorities to change the name of the post office in the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative complex to the South Goa Collectorate Post office.
Members of the forum have also insisted the postal authorities expedite recruitment of staff to cater to the requirements and beef up the services to the customers.
At a meeting of the Margao Post Forum, members drew the attention of the Postmaster that the name of the post office, which has been shifted from Gandhi market to the District Collectorate building, has not been changed till date. They have suggested that since the post office is located in the Collectorate building, the authorities should name the post office as South Goa Collectorate post office.
Members pointed out that the staff situation remains the same and has not improved in spite of recruitments, while urging the authorities to take up the matter on priority.
The meeting was attended by Lorna Fernandes, G A Fadte, Alladin Noorani and Postmaster Prabha M B.
The Postmaster informed the members that during the pandemic, doorsteps service was provided to senior citizens who were unable to attend to the post office.
Members pointed out that the functioning of the post offices may be hampered since the 2022 budget has put additional pressure on the post offices. Hence, they have requested the postal authorities to gear up for the recruitment process to render better services to the customers.
They also demanded that network issue should be solved before implementation of core banking as per Budget-2022. The Postmaster informed members of the new services regarding the updation of Aadhar card through post office, Common Service Centre and validating of Pan card data with NSDL server.
Members requested for installation of passbook updating machine like banks in order to avoid rush on the counters.
