Free call, data scheme will be revived soon, says Parrikar

It may be noted that Minister for Information Technology Rohan Khaunte had stated that the scheme will be discontinued as parents have been complaining of misuse by students. rInterestingly, Parrikar said that scheme will be thoroughly reviewed and re-launched in around 4 months after working out nitty-gritties. rGYSY was launched with much fanfare in December 2016 by the then chief minister Laxmikhant Parsekar. Under the scheme, youth in the age group of 16-30 years were provided with free calling of up to 100 minutes and free internet data usage of 3 GB. In all around 3.2 lakh youth had availed the scheme. r Meanwhile, replying to another question on BJP losing its grip over the minority vote-bank, Parrikar said that the party still has minority MLAs in its ranks and there is nothing to suggest that the minority community voter base has been lost.
