Stating that Goa does not produce power on its own, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza urged the people to utilize the LED bulbs to the fullest so that the power consumption reduces in the State.
“We can then divert the saved electricity to the industries, which in turn will help generate more business and employment,” D’Souza added.
The Deputy CM made the statement at a function held to distribute free LED bulbs at Government School in Chimbel on Saturday.
D’Souza further advised the people not to only depend on the government provided LED bulbs but also to change the other bulbs in the households to LED so that maximum power is saved.
“If there is a need felt to provide more LED bulbs, then the government will definitely provide,” he said, while stating that ultimately the consumers themselves will benefit as the bill amount would be reduced by half.
“Already, Goan consumers are enjoying benefits as the cost per unit in Goa is very less as compared to other parts of India,” he stated.
Speaking on the occasion, Bal Bhavan BoD Hemant Golatkar informed that the BJP government’s schemes are provided to everybody without discriminating on the basis of religion, caste or region. Chimbel sarpanch Manisha Chopdekar welcomed while St Cruz BJP block president Girish Uskaikar compered the function. Chimbel dy sarpanch Rajesh Vernekar, panchas, AE Bandekar, JE Prabhu and others were present.
