An international agency from Malaysia is set to arrive in the State on Thursday and will use the latest technology to check for any issue along the entire 14-km pipeline between the Port and the Zuari Indian Oil Adani Ventures Limited (ZIAVL) oil storage tanks at Sancoale.
Stating this while speaking to The Goan, a source also said the ZIAVL has been excavating the area around the pipeline to check for any leakages.
"We have been excavating the area around the pipeline and we have now reached as far as Vishal Mega Mart area, far beyond the Vales Junction. Since Matvem is a low lying area and based below our pipelines, we had identified the stretch till Vales Junction but we have now reached the area near Vishal Mega Mart,” said a source.
It has been 19 days since the main fuel pipeline between the Mormugao Port Authority and the oil storage tanks at ZIAVL at Sancoale has been shut after wells in Matvem area of Dabolim had been found contaminated with fuel.
However despite taking all efforts to find the source of minor leakage, if any, that may have led to the contamination, ZIAVL is yet to come clear on the exact location of the issue on the 14-km pipeline.
“We are also continuously making all arrangements to find the leakage, if any, in our pipelines and we have deployed an agency and even pressed a sniffer dog in service. We have now engaged an international agency from Malaysia which will reach Goa most likely by Thursday and this agency will use the latest technology to check for any issue along the entire 14-km pipeline between the port and the ZIAVL depot at Sancoale," said the source.
