How can a petroleum tanker travel from Zuari Nagar, Sancoale, to Margao KTC bus depot without a halt on the way, but still has its tank full of diesel?
In fact, mystery surrounds the petroleum tanker, which had come to deliver diesel to the KTC depot on Saturday when it was found that its diesel tank was full and overflowing.
To unravel the mystery, HPCL officials will be visiting the Margao KTC bus depot on Monday as the depot Manage R A Luis has lodged a complaint with the Fatorda police to investigate into the episode.
The petroleum tanker is presently detained inside the KTC depot for inspection by the HPCL officials and they are expected to unravel the mystery how the tanker’s diesel tank was full when the vehicle has travelled all the way to Margao from Zuari Nagar.
A glance at the complaint lodged by the depot manager indicates that the tanker had arrived with KTC escort Bernard Miranda at 2 pm at the KTC gate on November 16. After keeping the tanker stationary for 30 minutes, KTC tanker inspection committee checked the tanker as per the standard operating procedure, ie checking each component dip, checking for density, checks for water presence etc. After the checking, the tanker was taken for decanting at KTC diesel pump.
It was found that the driver of the tanker attached his diesel delivery pipe to his tanker valve and other end to the underground tank inlet pipe and opened the master valve of the tanker from behind.
In his complaint, Luis stated that when it was done, diesel from the tanker diesel tank overflowed out and spilled all over the ground.
At this time, KTC Assistant storekeeper, Arjun Gadekar noticed that tanker’s individual component valves were not opened that time and immediately brought the matter to the notice of the depot
manager. “I found the tanker’s diesel tank is full of diesel. KTC escort informed that they did not stop on the way,” he said. Suspecting that there is something fishy, the depot manager has wondered how the tanker can travel from Zuari Nagar to Margao without consuming diesel.
When The Goan contacted Fatorda police station in-charge, PI Kapil Nayak to shed light on the episode, he confirmed that the police station has received the complaint from the Margao KTC depot.
He, however, said the police will wait for the inspection of the tanker by the HPCL officials on Monday before initiating action in the matter.
