Deputy Collector Sanguem has called a meeting of all authorities concerned on Monday to discuss the issue pertaining to lack of proper railway crossing which is causing hardship to the villagers of Kalay, Collem and Molem.
The meeting was called after Goacan Coordinator Roland Martins complained about the problem.
Concern Mamlatdar, BDO, PWD engineer, deputy town planner, SDPO, fire and emergency services, assistant director transport, civil supply officers and station master of South-Western Railway have been called for the meeting.
The people have been for many decades demanding a proper railway overbridge to cut short the additional 12 km travel to Curchorem.
During the monsoon, the railway underbridge at Kalay remains submerged in water and villagers have to travel via Savordem to Curchorem.
Earlier the Sanvordem MLA and PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar had conducted a site inspection for the construction of the
overbridge.
