Funds for household toilets' repair disbursed in Quepem

CURCHOREM: Around 60 cheques for the repair of household toilets were distributed at Quepem Municipal Council (QMC), as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan mission.

“The first instalment for the total repair amount was given to the beneficiaries,” said QMC Chairperson Filu D'Costa, who distributed the cheques to the 60 beneficiaries.

“These cheques were distributed to repair the old damaged toilets of households. As part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan mission, it is essential to keep our surrounding clean and hygienic. Therefore, the government is providing funds to repair old damaged toilets of individual households,” said D'Costa.

“Once the repair work of the toilet structure is completed, they will be inspected by municipal officers and then, the balance amount will be given to these beneficiaries,” D'Costa added.

MAPUSA: Two persons were arrested on charges of trespass and theft of scrap material worth Rs 7.36 lakh on Thursday.
