Gammon repairs road at IOC junction within 24 hours

VASCO

Gammon India has resolved the issue of a hook rod protruding out from a road at IOC junction in Vasco by curing and re-cementing the entire stretch within 24 hours of The Goan newspaper highlighting the issue on Saturday.

The Goan newspaper on Saturday had showed the iron hook protruding out of the road at the busy IOC junction causing traffic hazard and evoking angry reactions from motorists.

However, when contacted Commercial Manager of Gammon India, R Prabhakaran had said that due to heavy movement of vehicles, the road had developed potholes and the entire area had opened up  exposing the iron rods used by Gammon India.

Prabhakaran had also assured to resolve the issue within 24 hours and accordingly the entire stretch of the road was closed late night and Gammon India officials carried out the work of repairing the roads and cementing the entire stretch.

Speaking to The Goan Prabhakaran informed that the heavy vehicles moving on the stretch of the road had damaged the tar on the road. Prabhakaran further said that this time around Gammon had ensured a thick slab and cement curing so that the rods would never be seen again and vehicles could move conveniently on the stretch of the road.

“We had assured to resolve the issue on a war-footing and within 24 hours repaired the stretch of the road. By stopping the movement of heavy vehicles on that spot we have done the job with more thickness of cement and slab so that in future at any point of time, the hook or the rod will not come out nor be visible. The movement of all vehicles will also be smooth now on the spot.”
