Gawlan singing contest held

Sripad Jambulbhatkar won the first prize in the 18th all Goa Gawlan singing competition, organised by Gopalkrishna Bal Melawa.
Suhas Limye, Devraj Karbotkar, Diwakar Kajari, Srikrishna Shirodkar and Shyam Shirodkar won the next five prizes. Shivam Dhuri, Trushal Chari and Shreya Candolkar won prizes in pakhwaz, harmonium and kasale playing respectively.
The first prize in the women category was awarded to Pradnya Rawal, while Sudarshana Mardolkar, Supriya Uskaikar, Prajyoti Rawal, Chandana Kolkankar won second to fifth prizes respectively.
First prize in the children’s group was awarded to Trushal Chari, while Hritikesh Chari, Shreya Candolkar, Pooja Dhuri and Nishad Arlekar won the second to fifth prizes respectively.
Bal Melawa member Deelip Fondekar inaugurated the contest while Chorao Sarpanch Aarti Bandodkar, Karbhat Gramastha Mandal president Kalidas Borkar, former sarpanch Prasad Chodankar, bhajani artiste Gajanan Usagaonkar, Dhanarath Mardolkar, Krishnanath Chari, Devkikrishna Haushi Mandal president Suhas Volvoikar were present at the prize distribution function. Aarti Bandodkar proposed the vote of thanks.
