The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has urged the South Goa district Collector to disconnect electricity and water connection and sealing of the illegal structures of the resort at Colva which has been ordered demolition by the Authority and confirmed by the National Green Tribunal.

Copies of the letter sent by the GCZMA Director, Johnson Fernandes has been sent to the officials of the Power department and the PWD to disconnect power and water supply.

In the letter, Johnson pointed out that the GCZMA had passed direction to demolish the illegal structures identified with alphabet A to G on the site plan of property in question at Colva  as they were found to be in violation of the CRZ Notification 1991.

While enclosing a copy of the  order dated 12/10 / 2022 along with the site/ location plan of the offending structures identified under alphabets A to G, Johnson pointed out that the said order passed by the Authority was challenged by the owner of the offending structure before the NGT (West Zone Bench) Pune,  but has been upheld by the NGT.

The GCZMA Director further pointed out that the owner of the offending structures is still carrying out commercial activities in the said structures which are held to be illegal.

Hence, he has urged the Collector that the electricity and water connection be disconnected of these structures and the same be sealed until such time the same is demolished. The action taken report be forwarded to this office within a period of seven days. So far, however, the GCZMA has received no action taken report in the matter, sources added.
