The 11 demolished structures included a large-sized shack with a beach restaurant and residential luxury huts. Other demolished structures in CRZ violations taken up for demolition are mostly shacks converted as storages, informed locals. rIt may be recalled that a resort having purchased the predominantly fishermen occupied property (1,10,037 sq mtrs) at Colomb-Patnem coast had filed a complaint with NGT against controversial constructions/encroachments in violations with CRZ rregulations. rFollowing the NGT orders, GCZMA fixed hearings and served notices to about 76 alleged encroachments suspecting over 300 illegal structures, and the last inspection was conducted at the site in mid-April. rWorried fishermen in the locality fearing their residential houses are at stake, reportedly dismantled several alleged illegal structures temporarily erected by them, but according to locals only some commercial temporary structures were still existing which the demolition squad razed on Thursday. Officials from GCZMA, besides advocates from the complainant were also present during demolition drive.
