The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has begun digitisation its various documents and records through the Goa Electronics Limited (GEL).
MMC Chairperson Damodar Kaskar on Tuesday informed reporters that the decision to go ahead with digitisation was taken up at a recent council meeting.
"The digitisation of various documents in the MMC has started with the appointment of Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) as the agency. Digitisation of records in the MMC would help keep records safe on computers and it can be made available whenever it is required.”
“The MMC had recently adopted a resolution to appoint an agency to digitise records because many times, files are not found immediately and this digitisation would make the process easier and safe. We have given a time frame to the agency for the digitisation work and we are expecting the process to be completed as early as possible," said Kaskar.
