A power generator caught fire due to short circuit at Dyanprasarak Mandal's College at Assagao on Monday.

According to fire fighters, the incident occurred at about 7 pm due to short circuit and the generator caught fire. The security guards of the college noticed the incident and immediately alerted the Mapusa fire station. Fire fighters rushed to the site and doused the fire. Fire fighters Suraj Shetgaonkar, Swapnesh Kalangutkar, Pradeep Gawas, Prakash Ghadi and Sagar Cuncolkar took part in operations.
Congress has urged the State government to conduct a day-long training camp for all elected panchayat members and the appointed secretaries in 191 village panchayats of Goa on order to acquaint them about the powers due to them.
