MARGAO
Goa Forward Party General Secretary (Org) and Spokesperson Durgadas Kamat has strongly condemned the shocking incident in Margao where a young boy from Navelim was brutally beaten and abused by a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI), leaving him in critical condition.
He stated that when those entrusted to uphold the law themselves violate it, public trust collapses.
Kamat said that the police uniform represents protection, service, and justice. “If the PSI behaves like this, then where should people go? Police are meant to be Rakshaks (protectors) not Bhakshaks (oppressors). What about the law, if the law enforcers themselves break it?” he questioned.
He further raised concerns over the delayed response and lack of immediate accountability from the authorities.
“The Home Minister, the BJP Government, the Superintendent of Police, who will take responsibility if something happens to this boy? Suspension is not punishment. It is eyewash,” he said.
Kamat demanded that the a strict independent investigation be ordered. He also urged the Chief Minister to directly intervene and issue clear directions ensuring that no police officer misuses power and take law in their hands.
