Renowned ghazal and playback singer, Pankaj Udhas, known for his soulful renditions, has passed away at the age of 72 after battling a prolonged illness. The news of his demise was confirmed by his family in an official statement on Monday.
A Padma Shri recipient, Pankaj Udhas had been struggling with health issues for some time, as stated by his family. His daughter, Nayaab, took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news, saying, "With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness."
The loss of the veteran ghazal singer has left the music industry and his fans in mourning. Pankaj Udhas' contributions to Indian music, particularly in the realm of ghazals and playback singing, have left an indelible mark.
