Goa hit yet another gloomy milestone on Sunday with the Directorate of Health Services recording 11 deaths and 951 new Covid cases, a new high in single-day Covid count for Goa.
The active Covid cases in the state have now touched 7,052 and the daily positivity rate has crossed 29 per cent yet again.
In addition to the rising figures, the 11 Covid related deaths on Sunday raised the total victim count to 883.
Among the deceased persons are three from Mapusa, an 81-year-old woman, a 63-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man. The others include a 45-year-old man from Navelim, a 51-year-old man from Verna, a 62-year-old woman from Chicalim, a 53-year-old man from Mangor Hill, a 54-year-old man from Ambaji-Margao, a 78-year-old man from Porvorim, a 67-year-old lady from Taleigao and 50-year-old man from Sawantwadi.
As per the mortality bulletin of DHS, six deaths occurred at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, four at South Goa District Hospital in Margao and one at Hospicio in Margao.
In its release, the DHS disclosed that the patient, a 62-year-old woman from Chicalim who expired at SGDH within 10 hours, had symptoms of fever, cough, loose motions and breathlessness since two days.
The 50-year-old man referred from Sawantwadi was brought to GMC in hypotension and respiratory distress. The 54-year-old man from Ambaji in Margao, who was brought dead to Hospicio was found postmortem to have ARDS due to Covid-19 infection.
Meanwhile, a total of 1.9 lakh eligible beneficiaries have been given the first dose of Covid vaccine in Goa while 46,047 have been given the second dose as well under the ongoing Covid vaccination drive which began on January 16 this year.
