SMC politics: BJP-backed reps refute allegations against CM

BICHOLIM
BJP-backed councillors, sarpanchas and panch members from different village panchayats of Sakhali constituency, locals from Virdi village, and karyakartas of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant have strongly refuted the allegations by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar, former Sakhali Municipal Council chairperson Dharmesh Saglani and others against the chief minister over the interference of the latter in SMC politics.

Addressing a press conference at Sakhali on Sunday, former chairperson Yeshwant Madkar while refuting allegations over not giving the chairperson's door key to the Saglani group said that the key is in the municipality office itself and that they have not taken it into their custody at all and added that after having served the SMC for such a long time, Saglani should know that the key is kept in the office itself and it was his duty to enquire.

Milind Naik said that Congress leaders are defaming the chief minister without him even interfering in SMC politics as Sawant's popularity is on the rise.

Shrirang Sawal, Damodar Naik, Vitthal Kamat, Arjun Kamat and others claim that one councillor Rajesh Sawal, who is now with the Saglani faction, initially got elected only because of the support of CM Sawant, but later turned against him due to his selfish motive. Shrirang Sawal and others also challenged Rajesh Sawal to get elected from Virdi again on his own strength.

They also said that complaints have been lodged against Sawal for illegal constructions and other issues. The group also said that he has nothing to do with the Chief Minister therefore they will not tolerate any false allegations against the CM.

"Chief Minister Sawant is a leader who has come from poverty and hence the success he has achieved is through hard work. He has never done politics of revenge. His focus is to provide all the help to the people till the end," said Madkar.

Madkar and Gawas also criticized Dharmesh Saglani and Praveen Blaggan for playing the role of Adani and Ambani in their career but simply defaming CM.

Sarpanchas Gurprasad Naik, Saliya Gavas, Mahendra Ekawade, Chandrakant Ghadi, Namrata Gawas, Mahesh Gawande and Prashila Gawande said that it is not possible to get votes by slandering the Chief Minister.
