MARGAO
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced on Wednesday that the Goa Medical College, Bambolim, will soon have a super-specialty akin to the Reliance hospital and Breach Candy hospital, where tumours will be treated with endoscopy without opening the skull.
He further announced that patients with gastro issues need not go out of Goa for treatment, saying the government is planning to provide the super-specialty at the GMC.
Addressing doctors and health officials at the South Goa district hospital on the occasion of launching Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra at the South Goa district hospital on Wednesday, the Health Minister, however, expressed his concern over the rising number of cancer cases not only in Goa but in the country as well.
“The educated people do not go for the check-up, and they realize one day they are affected by cancer. Please get yourself tested at the district hospital or at the PHCs and CHCs,” he said.
