The two persons residing in the houses in the area of land acquired for Mopa airport has been arrested by Pernem police after a complaint from GMR company for trespassing and illegally staying in the government-owned land.
Suresh Talkatkar and Narayan Salgaonkar have been arrested under Sec 447, 504 r/w 34 of IPC on Monday morning and released on bail bonds of Rs 5,000 each in the evening.
After receiving the news of the arrest, Sanjay Barde from Bardez Kulmundkar organisation, Pernem Congress block leader Umesh Talvanekar, Aam Aadmi Party leader Pradip Ghadi Amonkar, Goa Suraksha Manch leader Vinayak Chari came to police station and condemned government action.
Government is doing injustice to people from Bahujan Samaj by demolishing their houses, said Umesh Talvanekar.
He also threatened to go on two-day hunger strike, to condemn the action on the dwelling people.
