Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, has informed in the assembly that the State’s total public debt stood at Rs 15,512 crores as on June 30 this year.
Sawant provided this information while responding to a question tabled by Ponda MLA Ravi Naik.
Goa’s debt is clearly on a rise over the years, as is evident from the data shared by Sawant.

As on June 30 this year, Goa had outstanding market loans amounting to Rs 11,410 crore, which was 73.6% of overall public debt.
The second biggest contributor to public debt was National Small Saving Fund Loans, which amounted to Rs 2,297 crore as on June 30.
Central loans and loans from NABARD amounted to Rs 1,173 crore and Rs 574 crore respectively.
It was further revealed that the State Government borrowed Rs 353 crore for the Goa Water Supply and Sewerage Project between 2015-16 and 2018-19.
