The defence sector is vital to India’s sovereignty and security, yet under successive Congress regimes, it has suffered due to corruption, strategic negligence, and policy paralysis. Despite this history, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee recently organised a Tiranga Yatra in honour of the armed forces”an act that reeks of hypocrisy. Congress has consistently undermined the military, from the Bofors scandal under Rajiv Gandhi to attempts to derail the Rafale deal with baseless allegations. Rahul Gandhi’s political stunt involving a terminally ill Manohar Parrikar and his “chowkidar chor hai” slur were disgraceful episodes, while remarks like “khoon ki dalali” and repeated demands for proof of military operations insult the sacrifices of our soldiers. Other Congress leaders have echoed Pakistani narratives, questioned surgical strikes, and even praised Pakistan’s leadership, which undermines national interests. Incidents like Sidhu hugging Pakistan’s Army Chief and slogans like “Pakistan Zindabad” being raised by Congress supporters further expose the party’s true stance. The Congress’s track record on defence is one of mockery, obstruction, and misplaced priorities. Their recent theatrics in Goa are nothing more than a political farce. The BJP-led government, under Narendra Modi, stands firm in protecting India’s security and will hold those endangering it accountable.
