Goa CIC permits inspection of Raj Bhavan registers

Goa’s Chief Information Commissioner Vishwas Satarkar on Friday allowed the plea of lawyer-activist Aires Rodrigues seeking inspection of inward and outward registers of the Raj Bhavan during the tenure of former Governor Satya Pal Malik.

Satarkar, a former Speaker of Goa legislative assembly, has fixed November 9 as the date for the inspection.

Last year, Rodrigues had sought copies of all the official communication between the Goa Governor and the Centre (Prime Minister and Home Minister) during Malik’s tenure but was denied what he had sought by Raj Bhavan’s Public Information Officer, Gaurish Shankhwalkar claiming it was not available in the records.

Shankwalkar had also on the same ground denied Rodrigues copies of letters received by Malik from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Satarkar meanwhile has adjourned further hearing in Rodrigues’ plea to November 10, in the matter related to his appeal against being denied by the Goa Legislature Secretariat information related to a copy of file notings and correspondence pertaining to expenditure incurred on a two-day training workshop for MLAs held in June at a starred hotel.
