Goa Congress celebrate party's win in 3 states; AAP happy that BJP is overthrown

PANAJI: The Congress party in Goa on Tuesday celebrated the mandate given to the party in the Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, while the BJP office in Panaji bore a deserted look with no reactions from party leaders from Goa, despite trying to contact them several times.
Congress, while celebrating, stated that the results would have a far-reaching impact on Goa’s politics.
In a press statement, Congress state president Girish Chodankar said, “The impact will be seen in both by-elections."
Chodankar maintained that the results were a reflection of the people’s frustration with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his divisive politics and his efforts to destroy democratic institutions.
The Goa fiasco of overturning the people’s mandate in the last Assembly election and non-governance for the last nine months has also contributed to the BJP’s defeat in five states, he added.
“People have punctured the artificial balloon of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP in all the five states. People have said enough to the lies of the BJP and its leaders. They have voted for a multi-cultural India which stands for liberal, democratic and secular values. People want to preserve the idea of an inclusive India and have set a new direction for the Indian political system and the upcoming 2019 elections,” he said.
He concluded by saying that the BJP leadership should learn lessons from the results and not take people for granted by misusing and abusing power.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also welcomed the results with Goa Convenor Elvis Gomes saying, "It's great news that people have realised how this pair of Modi-Shah has been bluffing the nation, and have stopped them in their tracks. Unity in diversity is our strength and that has been re-established."
