The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered the transfer of DGP Jaspal Singh from Goa to Delhi. The 1996-batch IPS officer Alok Kumar will replace him as the new DGP of Goa.
Singh's transfer comes following the controversy surrounding his alleged involvement in protecting accused Pooja Sharma in the demolition of the Assagao house.
The controversy began when suspended Police Inspector Prashal Desai claimed he was pressurized by DGP to demolish the house. Desai also alleged that Singh threatened to implicate him in a false NDPS case if he failed to obey his orders.
