Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said people in the State are expected to be fully vaccinated after taking the second dose by October 30, even as 76 per cent of the eligible population was vaccinated for the first dose in Goa.
The chief minister reiterated that Goa will keep its date to complete 100 per cent vaccination with the first dose on July 30.
He also said that 10,06,834 jabs were administered to the people in the State with the untiring efforts of the doctors, nurses and para-medical staff attached to the health department.
“So far 8,66,730 persons have taken the first dose of vaccination which is approximately 76 per cent of the population in the State. Our target is to complete the remaining 24 per cent within the next 15 days,” Sawant said, in his customary post-cabinet briefing.
The CM said a vaccination team has been posted at different talukas to identify people who need to be vaccinated.
He further said Tika Ustav 1.2 to administer the second dose of vaccine for those who have completed 84 days has already been kicked off and was getting a good response.
“Those who have completed 84 days should start taking their second dose. Those who are yet to take the first dose should come forward for the vaccine,” he said.
He further informed that the State can be declared as fully vaccinated only on completion of Tika Utsav 3.2.
“Only when Tika Utsav 3.2 is completed can we say the entire eligible Goa population has taken the second dose and therefore fully vaccinated. This is expected to end by October 30,” Sawant said.
It may be recalled that Tika Utsav 3 began on June 13 after persons above 18 years of age were asked to get the first dose of vaccination in the State.
