Goa Forward, AAP, TMC react sharply to defection

MARGAO

Non-Congress and non-BJP parties reacted sharply to Wednesday’s political developments after eight of the Congress MLAs quit the party to embrace the BJP.

Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai said the BJP is on the job to buy wholesale the MLAs and to ensure there’s no opposition in the State.

AAP Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas tweeted saying the Congress has once again succumbed to Operation Lotus in Goa. He said party leader Arvind Kejriwal’s prediction that a vote for the Congress is a vote for the BJP, has come true. “Goan voters will never trust the backstabbing again. AAP Goa remains the only party that can defeat the BJP,” Venzy added.

Trinamool Congress leader Jorson Fernandes said the new BJP culture is moving towards a risky society as it has succeeded in stressing for the second time that there is no relation between politics and morality as demonstrated once again by the split in Congress in Goa.

“And the fact that the eightsome who crossed, despite the documented vows taken by them against crossing over, only strengthens the basic new-found principle that what is legally permissible might not necessarily be always morally correct,” Jorson pointed out.

Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai said the Chief Minister has a one-point agenda to murder democracy to ensure there’s no opposition leader in Goa.

“This had happened in the Lok Sabha under BJP rule and the party wants to have a similar situation in Goa,” he said, adding that the Goa Forward will continue to be the voice of the people of Goa, both within the Assembly and outside.

Sardesai said the marriage between Congress MLAs and with BJP has taken place during the inauspicious period of Pitru Paksha.

“No Hindu weddings take place during this period, and I am confident that God will not bless this wedding between the Congress MLAs with the BJP,” he added.
