Goa Forward decides to step up in Margao if Digambar embraces BJP

MARGAO
The Goa Forward party has resolved to open a party office in Margao in the event Margao Congress MLA Digambar Kamat quits the party to embrace the ruling BJP.

At the Party Executive Committee meeting held at the Goemkar Ghor chaired by party chief Vijai Sardesai, the party has adopted two resolutions, one to strengthen and build the party organisation across the State and to take up issues plaguing Goa and its people.

The Executive Committee has resolved to take up public issues not only in the Assembly and outside, but to support the local people in their respective constituencies. The meeting further decided that party leaders and workers would move around the constituencies after Ganesh Chathurti to take up the issues affecting the people at large. On the party’s future plans, the meeting resolved to expand the organisation in a big way, by making its presence across the State.

During discussions on the current political scenario when speculations have been rife over the exit of eight Congress MLAs led by Margao MLA Digambar Kamat to join the BJP, members were of the opinion that the Goa Forward should open party office in Margao immediately in the event Kamat leaves the Congress to join the BJP.

This decision of the Goa Forward assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the fact that the Goa Forward had entered into a tie-up with the Margao MLA to jointly fight the polls for the Margao civic body.

In fact, questions have been raised about how the Goa Forward will go about in Margao Municipality if the Margao MLA quits Congress to join the BJP.
